They say a journey begins with a single step. The scariest part of any journey is starting--even just making the decision to start. Knowing you have a choice and making the choice to do the scary thing. Infinite trees and paths and possibilities ahead and a shady past behind. Where the winding road and forks will create more fear and choice and possibility. How the possibility can become something exciting and spontaneous but still scary, but you still take a step towards it. And another. And another.
But what if?
What if I get lost?
What if I can't find myself again?
What if my legs don't work anymore and I am left in a heap in the middle of nowhere?
What if I am alone?
What if I can never find my way back?
What if the darkness and unknown is too scary and I can't go forward?
What if a giant branch falls on my head?
What if I can't do it?
But then...
What if I find shimmers of light in the trees?
What if I hear new things and smell new things and they make me feel good and happy and calm?
What if my heart feels bigger and my soul feels fuller?
What if people find me and I find people and we understand together who we really are and who we need to be now?
What if I make it through the darkness?
What if I CAN do it?
I'm ready to feel again. I'm ready to cry and seep love from my pores. I'm ready to own the poetry in my life and understand where it comes from and where it went and to feel comfortable feeling uncomfortable so that the poetry can come back into me.
I'm ready to be inspired.
Here is one foot moving. Then the other.
